What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a neurological weakness in origin that affects 1 in 5 people and is characterized by difficulties with accurate and/or fluent word recognition, and by poor spelling and decoding abilities. It looks different in each student, and it is NOT simply seeing words and letters backward. It is an inherited brain difference that affects how language is both acquired and processed. Dyslexia can affect memorization and directionality, and it varies greatly in levels of severity and in symptoms displayed.
With the right training and by utilizing the correct tools, like those taught by Achieve More Reading Center’s educated and supportive tutors, people with dyslexia can succeed academically and professionally.
